THE ADDRESS OF THE CHIEF JUSTICE OF THE SUPREME COURT OF ALBANIA IN THE DECREEING CEREMONY

Distinguished Mr. President

Distinguished Members of the Supreme Court

I feel esteemed from the decreeing of the President of the Republic in the position of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and the Parliament of Albania which approved, with unanimity, the Decree.

The duty of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court is of great importance, not only for the administration of this relevant institution, but also for the further functions that derive from this position, such as the Chairman of the National Judicial Conference, Member of the High Council of Justice etc, functions in accordance with the enforcement of the Constitution and laws for the organization of judicial power and structures relating with it.

On this occasion, I would like to stress the relevance of the great duties that we have to face for the judicial system reform, for the independence of the judicial system, for a contemporary justice led by the law, professionalism, integrity and devotion in accomplishment of this sublime duty.

I have the highest awareness of the importance of this function, which makes me to give my utmost dedication to fulfill it with honor and professionalism.

On this occasion, I would like to express the certitude, that being the first among equals, primus inter paris, the fulfillment with success of the duty that I take today, will be guaranteed only through the collaboration, understanding and devotion of all the members of the judicial panel.

The Supreme Court, at present, consists of justices with long-lasting experience in this Court, but also of new justices with previous experience, selected carefully by the President of the Republic, and I have the trust and confidence in saying that this constitution of the judicial panel is able to accomplish with competence its constitutional obligations, and at the same time giving me the guarantee in administrating the Supreme Court and fulfilling my function with success.

On this event, I would like to express thanks to the Former Chief Justice Mr. Thimjo Kondi, who has administrated this Court through 9 years in a professional and just way, by leaving me as a heritage a positive experience, that I want to pursue further.
